Bondage anyone??

For whatever reason...twice in the past week, I have had conversations with friends who were looking for mild bondage gear - collars, cuffs, etc.

The only place in the Seattle area that I know to recommend is the Crypt...but that isn't 'good' enough for either of them.

Suggestions???

restaurant recommendations?

I'm going to see Cirque du Soleil on Friday (*squee*) and was hoping someone could give me recommendations for where to eat afterwards in the Redmond area. I'm looking for a date-quality restaurant, preferrably affordable with my college student budget.

And unfortunately, Indian cuisine was already ruled out.

Corteo - brought to you by Uncle Sam's economic stimulus package! Yay!

Facts:

Today is the last day that students can withdrawl from the quarter.
Withdrawal forms need to be signed by an adviser.
There is only one adviser in our department today, and her calendar is fairly hectic with meetings, etc. all day.

Situation:

So this student comes walking in, and needs an adviser to sign her withdrawal form. I explained that the only adviser here today is currently in a meeting, and that there would be another meeting (across campus) immediately following this one. If she'd like to wait, she could probably snag the adviser inbetween.

The student was freaking out because the adviser was in a meeting with FACULTY. OMG! There were faculty in the building! And she didn't want to be seen by any faculty, so she couldn't wait here in the building for the adviser.

After listening to her lament and try to figure out every single minute of the adviser's schedule in an attempt to catch the adviser at a "safe" time, I gave up and told her to just fill out the form and I would try to get the adviser to sign it before she departed for the next faculty meeting.

"Oh thank you, thank you. You saved my life!"

And so this girl fills out her form in a hurry, because she thinks that the meeting is about to adjourn and the faculty will see her, and then she goes downstairs and waits 20 minutes in the girl's restroom to hide from the scary faculty. Then she comes back to retreive her signed form.

Crazy much? Seriously, how can one be a UWT student without encountering faculty at some point?

Oy, what a day. I wish it was already over.

Directing Traffic

I was driving home from work tonight when the car in front of me was t-boned by a cyclist! OMG! The guy on the bicycle was coming down a steep hill and it looked like he wasn't able to slow down enough for the sharp curve, and he just whacked into the SUV in front of me, knocking off her side mirror and scraping up her driver's side window.

Everyone immediately went into emergency mode - the lady in the car that was behind the cyclist was checking on him; I pulled to the side, turned on my emergency flashers and started calling 911. There was another driver also calling 911 (cell phones are everywhere) so when he got through, I went ahead and hung up. Then 911 called me back, and I confirmed that there was an accident and gave them my name as well.

Then while one lady was staying with the cyclist, the rest of us began stopping and slowing down oncoming traffic (next time, I'll try not to wear a moss green shirt when surrounded by greenery). It took a bit for the emergency vehicles to get to us (there had already been a 3 car pile-up a few miles away - I was stuck in the traffic for that one too), and then I had to tell some angry drivers to turn around and find a different route up the hill. So I stayed, gave my info to the officers, did what I could, etc.

The cyclist was talking and able to move his limbs before the paramedics got there, and although he was cut up and bruised, hopefully he is otherwise okay. There was a second cyclist that arrived who knew him and called the mother and father...the father had arrived before the ambulance left.

So...just wanted everyone to know that excitement can happen at any time...watch out for bicyclists next time you drive.

Oy! Pinata!

So today might not be a typical work day, but I gotta say:

Pinatas are awesome!! I can't believe that we got to actually swing at and break a pinata at our lunch event today. Okay, so I didn't get a chance to take a swing, but I got plenty of candy and toys, so I'm happy. (Yes, I got excited about stupid little plastic toys! I think the sugar-high from the candy might have helped out a bit with that.)

So, go ahead, get jealous...you wish you got to play with pinatas at your work too. That's okay...you prolly get better paychecks than I do.

I think I'll get back to work for a few before it is time to go home...yay! It's Friday!

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl that parallel parked in Seattle all by herself, on a real city street, with people standing on the sidewalk and everything. And she rocked it! Perfect spacing, close to the curb - everything!

The End
