Last evening I was YouTube surfing. I came across some old 70's game shows. I was a VORACIOUS game show fan in the 70's. "Match Game", "Gambit", "High Rollers", "Now You See It", "Jackpot", "Password", "$foo Pyramid", "Gong Show", "Joker's Wild"... And the real "Wheel of Fortune" with Chuck Woolery, Susan Stafford, and buying ceramic dalmatians and putting the rest on a Gift Certificate. I ate this stuff up. One in particular was " Treasure Hunt." A really trashy show from the mind of Chuck Barris. (Which should make that statement redundant). ( Here's the quick summary from wikipedia )The show was undeniably exploitation for entertainment purposes. ( But then there was Emile Autouri )And of course because I LOVE the obscure... I've faithfuly recreated a fan page for Mr. Autouri on Facebook. Below is a YouTube exploration in abject stoicism. Back when Game Shows did fun things. ...dead or alive? Interesting movie. I think I'm going to have to track down the comic book. Plot wise for me, it was a little thin. Seemed more like an action-fest with plot thrown in to sew it together. Well.. that and Angelina bum. But ya know. When both you and your date can squee together over that, life is good. :-) Acting wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the list. McAvoy seemed to put on a good show. I'm so used to hearing at least some accent coming out of him from the other side of the pond that name aside, it was a bit difficult for me to remember what else he did. Terrence Stamp continues to prove that he has depth to his acting, and that while many of us will always know him as General Zod, he has lots more to contribute. Morgan Freeman is getting good at playing asshole. It's not something I ever previously associated with his characters, but lately, I'm enjoying how that's going for him. And.. well... Angelina.... There are two things to be said about her acting on the whole as of late. Either she does a very convincing portrayal of a lack of sanity in her characters, or she's eye candy. This time, I'm sorry to say, she was eye candy. Overall it was interesting. The effects were ok. I appreciated the steam-punkishness to some of the props. Somewhere along the line I think I expected more of the movie. But it was ok. Tags: movies

Not that anybody should be surprised, but I'm always fond of the fact that the 4th of July is predictable when it comes to the weather. Last night weather wise was incredible. :-) I took thinxtoomuch to see Wanted, and just as we arrived at the theatre, we encountered sheets of rain. Rain so thick it's difficult to see 10 feet in front of you. I miss rain like that. Monsoon rain like we have back where I grew up. But more than the rain, I loved the lightning. I've missed thunderstorms. We almost never have them here. Until lately, that is. It's interesting to see how the climate is changing. Even in as little time as 10 years, I've seen changes. That's kinda spooky. I think I heard thunder and saw flashes all night last night. Every time I woke up, there were flashes in the distance and rumbles seconds after. Even this morning. :-) Four point seven seconds per mile, the speed of sound is. Count the time. One-one-thousand. two-one-thousand. Three-one-thousand. Know the distance. :-) Yum. :-) Tags: 4th of july, movies, thunderstorms
